About

BK Bridge croppedMy name is Julie, and I live in New York City.   Welcome to my vanity project Web site.  I hope you’ll stay a while.  This site is a portfolio of new clips and an archive of posts that I have written on my previous blog endeavors, including Globe Stompers and TrailerSpy.     Currently I am the Brooklyn Sting columnist for NYC’s Neighborbee blog.    For those of you with ADD, check out my favorite posts.

I recently returned to New York after a year of traveling through South America, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, and Indonesia.  The posts tagged travel here are my posts from Globe Stompers, the travel blog Jared Byer and I wrote while on the road.   Most of the photos in these posts were taken by Jared.  To read the complete story of the trip, including Jared’s continued travels, check out Globe Stompers.    I was thrilled to be named Lost Girl of the Week by the award-winning Lost Girls, and Globe Stompers was listed as one of the 100 Best Travel Blogs by TravelHacker.

I created TrailerSpy as a humble blog to discuss the newest movie trailers.  Thanks to Tal and Rachel, it has now grown into a full-fledged movie trailer Web site with over 220,000 monthly page views.   Until we resurrect the blog on TrailerSpy, my favorite posts (minus some of the original videos) will live here.   During the 2007 Oscars, I  was one of the few prognosticators to correctly predict Alan Arkin’s upset; let’s see how I do this year.    TrailerSpy has been linked by The New York Times, College Humor, New York Magazine, Vanity Fair, 20th Century Fox, mediabistro, and more.

Aside from travel and movies, I love eating, watching sports, and exploring the greatest city in the world.   You’ll see posts on those topics, and whatever else is rattling around in my brain.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Feel free to drop me a line at julie@julieandthecity.com, especially if you want to pay me to write or edit something for you, or if you want to send me lemon cupcakes from Buttercup Bake Shop.
